Michael Spooner

Executive Chairman

Mr Spooner was appointed as Non Executive Chairman in May 2016 and in July 2019 became Executive Chairman. Mr Spooner has served on the Board of Directors with several international medtech, pharma, vaccine and biotechnology companies, including, Mesoblast, MicrofluidX, BiVacor, Advanced Surgical Design & Manufacture Limited, Peplin, Inc., Hawaii Biotech, Inc., Hunter Immunology Limited, and as managing director of Ventracor Limited.

Mr Spooner has lived much of his business life internationally and has held a number of significant leadership positions including as a partner and director of consulting services for 2 of the world’s leading firms

He has a successful recorded in leading corporate restructing as well as strategy design and implementation. Importantly Mr Spooner has also successfully lead partnership programs and major financing initatives.

Betty Vidal

Chief Financial Officer

Betty has held the roles of Financial Controller and Head of Finance for a number of medical device and engineering companies including Medtel, Dentsply, Howden and Diasorin.

Betty has successfully driven initiatives that have enchanced financial processes, strengthened governance, and improved overall operational efficiency.

With a proven track record of diligence and strategic oversight, she ensures Smartz financial integrity and supports its sustainable growth.

Dr Anne Spooner

Chief Medical Officer

Dr Anne Spooner MBBS Qld is the Chief Medical Officer of Smartz AG. She successfully informs, designs, leads, and manages the direction and delivery of Smartz AG clinical implementations and trials globally.

Along with her specialist nursing team, she also develops and delivers associated education content and manuals, staff training, product support and reports.

Dr Spooner has worked extensively in the provision of general and advanced medical and aged care in international settings throughout her career as a practising clinician. She is a published long term clinical educator and academic with recent roles that include Associate Professor, Clinical Lead, and OSCE Lead of the Bond University Medical program.

Dr Spooner is an excellent communicator who develops strong working relationships and associations in promoting improvements in aged care quality life and care outcomes.

Kenneth Huynh

Chief Technology Officer

Kenneth Huynh is the Head of Engineering at Smartz AG, where he leads the design, development, and delivery of smart wearable technology solutions for the aged care sector. With over 14 years of experience managing complex software ecosystems, Kenneth brings deep expertise in medical device software development, cloud architecture, and cross-platform systems integration.

Prior to joining Smartz AG, Kenneth held senior roles at TeleMedCare Pty Ltd, where he managed end-to-end software development for advanced health monitoring solutions, ensuring compliance with international medical standards such as IEC 62304 and ISO 14971. He also contributed to successful regulatory submissions to the TGA and FDA.

Kenneth holds a Master of Biomedical Engineering and a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (Honours) from the University of New South Wales, along with a Graduate Diploma in IT Project Management from the University of Technology Sydney. Renowned for his pragmatic leadership and commitment to excellence, Kenneth builds high-performing teams that deliver innovative, compliant, and commercially successful technology solutions.
